I heart Ikea

July 8, 2008 at 7:16 am (Uncategorized)

So we went to Atlanta last weekend, it was quite stressful but fun at times. I’ll probably write more about that when I get some pictures of the trip from Amanda. My camera is still not working but I think she got some good ones of the babies at least.

We got to Ikea at about 7:50 PM because Emily’s plane was delayed and rerouted, and the baseball game was going into extra innings. I believe it was finally over after the 17th inning, I think it was at least 9:30 by that time, and the game was originally scheduled to start at 1:30 before it was delayed by a thunderstorm.

So, we stopped at the cafeteria first because I was starving and had been walking around the airport ALL DAY! I had this amazing chocolate cake, I really should have taken a picture of it! That’s not all I had, mind you, there was pasta involved as well. This gave us less than an hour to shop, which is pretty darn hard considering that this place is about the size of 10 Wal Marts. Thankfully this wasn’t my first time there because then I really would have been pissed. We got a couple more Barnslags for Aden, if you don’t know what those are then too bad for you! I also got her an extra duvet cover and pillowcase for her little ikea pillow and blanket that I got last time. These also have Barnslags on them.

Then I decided that I absolutely MUST have this wonderful Poang chair, which I do happen to have a picture of. I’m tired of sitting on my uncomfortable couch, and I can’t wait to get a sectional but this chair is pretty awesome.

And, guess what else?

BABY poang chair!!! Aden thinks it’s pretty cool, unfortunately when she tries to climb up on it she tips it over, so we have to work on that.

And here are some more pictures of my beautiful girl, just to share.

And watching some kids show on TV and refusing to look at the camera!

Cutie Aden

As for me, I just got back from a middle of the night journey to Wal Mart, where I picked up some DVDs for Aden because we’re setting up a little TV with a built in DVD player for her in the dining room. I decided to turn the dining room into the toy room since we don’t eat in there, and the toys are completely taking over the living room! Anyways, about the DVDs. I got her Elmo’s potty time DVD, it has songs and stuff so we’re going to do the whole subliminal messaging thing since she loves Elmo. I also found a Dora the Explorer DVD that as an episode called “Dora is going to be a Big Sister”, so a little more subliminal messaging there…and the last one is a Wiggles one where they dance and sing nursery rhymes, which I’m sure she’s going to love!

Yay for ultrasounds

July 4, 2008 at 3:52 pm (Uncategorized)

I finally got my long awaited ultrasound last night and thankfully everything went well and the baby is doing fine in there! There is only ONE baby which is immensely relieving to me, I was so afraid it would be twins! The baby measured a little ahead of what I thought, 12 weeks 6 days, which means I’m exactly 13 weeks today. The heartbeat was 172 BPM and there was plenty of amniotic fluid. In fact the baby already has a cute fat little tummy from swallowing it, which I thought was adorable!

Such a relief to see the baby and know that everything is okay. Now we only have to wait another 8-10 weeks for the “BIG ultrasound” because they like to do them at 22 weeks around here (how annoying).

Annoying Etiquette Teachers

July 1, 2008 at 5:01 am (Uncategorized)

I am sitting here watching Trading Spouses, and for some reason one of the families has an etiquette teacher as a friend that comes over to eat dinner with them and I guess make sure that they have good manners. They bragged about her and said that she knows all these diplomats and whatever…seriously though, who the fuck cares!? It turns out that in this episode the families are both in the San Fransisco Bay area, so the other family is forced to put up with the woman teaching them which plate is for what course like they are a bunch of five year olds. Thankfully the new family is British and they are really cool so now they’re using a remote controlled fart machine at the table and shocking the hell out of the etiquette lady. I think the mom is going to have an aneurysm or something. Ok, that’s my TV watching story for the evening.

What else have I done today? This morning I had a chiropractor appointment which was awesome, and then I had to go get my blood drawn because I’m having an ultrasound on Thursday and apparently they need a quantitative HCG test for that. I think they should have done that in the first place but of course military hospitals are awesome. In any case I really hate getting my blood drawn because the front desk lady is an absolute moron! She’s this really old bitchy lady and she always wears these African mumu type dresses, and really crazy hats. It is not cute. Did I mention she’s a bitch? I could absolutely feel my blood pressure rising, and I wanted to punch her in the face. Okay, I know I have anger issues but I was complaining about her to Beth and she seemed to agree that the woman is annoying and generally incompetent.

I slept most of the day, dreaming of beef stroganoff, which was interesting. Then it was time to go to Beth and Adam’s house for dinner, which brings us to the “cute Aden picture of the day”. For some odd reason she got into Lance’s bouncer seat (which he doesn’t use anymore) and she was really enjoying herself! It was really funny, here’s a picture of the cutest little girl ever:

Woke up, made the stroganoff I had been dreaming of, along with some green bean casserole and here I am!
